Popular Unlimited Plan details… Home 699/600+ Speed - Upto 128k Monthly Rent - 600/699Rs.(excl. tax) Monthly Cap - Unlimited. Modem Rental - 99Rs. Call Charges - 1.10 Rs Per Unit. Home 999/900+ Speed - Upto 256k Monthly Rent - 900/999Rs.(excl. tax) Monthly Cap - Unlimited. Modem Rental - 99Rs. Call Charges - 1.00 Rs Per Unit. Quality and General Info Both unlimited plans (128k and 256k) are not dedicated, users report an average of 30kBps on 256k and 15 kBps on 128k. Most of the users are upgraded to double speeds (128k to 256k and 256k to 512k) after 11pm till 7am. Note that this only applies to certain areas and so far seems to affect customers at random. Some may or may not get this feature, and is not guaranteed to take place everyday. Airtel is known for their excellent Customer Care and Billing, although there have been customers who would say otherwise, but for now they exist in minority. The customers have reported next to none downtimes and excellent performance with P2P programs. Airtel was one of the first ISP's to introduce 256kbps Unlimited package in India after which it gained a lot commercial success, and for quite a while was called the 'Best ISP in India'. However, after January 2007, after almost two years with the same speed packages, Airtel has been losing its popularity because of their failure to upgrade their Unlimited plans, fueled by BSNL DataOne Broadband's 2mbps packages, which have unlimited usage hours during 2am till 8am. Airtel replied with their own 2mbps plans, all of them with strict Data Caps (from 600mb to 3gb) and a promotional 512kbps Unlimited plan which only new users can apply for, the speed will last only for a year. Lately, Airtel has been conducting several tests, according to some sources, to upgrade their plans. Though, as one of their many Business Plans, Airtel does offer 512kbps dedicated with Unlimited usage, for Rs.10,995 without tax ($248.953). Airtel also offers a numbers of plans with Data/Time Limits, the plans vary from city to city. Airtel still remains one of the popular Broadband ISP's in India due to their excellent Customer Service and hardly any downtimes. Airtel Broadband Night Double Speed Update : As of 19/10/07 it has been reported that Airtel has stopped their Double Speed offerings at night and have capped the bandwidth. Users have reported 10 KBps on a 128Kbps line and 22 KBps on a 256Kbps connection.
